okay finally one post which made some sense to me ;)
Haven't read anything by Holderlin... But you might be interested in this, if you access to a library or are a subscriber. this appeared in a recent edition of nyrb.

so far as I could understand the essay, coetzee mostly discusses german philosophy (hegel and schelling) in the review rather than poetry or translation but i think it should be helpful.
